Ordnance Survey map

scale 1:25.000

Term used for a topographic map at a scale of 1:25,000, also called German sheet lines. The term stems from the process of plane table surveying, which is no longer used today, whereby the sighted points in the terrain were transferred directly onto a map attached to the surveyor's table.
